AMV Contest
JACON again will be having its Anime Music Video Contest, to be held on Saturday, May 17, 2008. As with all contests, this one has a few rules.
The Rules
- All music videos must be in a digital format dictated by the AMV Coordinator. These are CD-R, DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW or File transferred by FTP. Videos may be in MPEG-1, MPEG-2, Huffy, DV, Xvid or Uncompressed. Any
videos not encoded using these codecs will not be accepted. No, we are not accepting Divx, WMV or Real Video. All videos WILL be converted to MPEG-2 using TMPEG http://www.tmpgenc.net and using the templates located at http://www.snackpants.org/AMVDigital.zip
- All videos should be encoded at a minimum resolution of 352x240, but the preferred is 720x480 at 29.97 frames per second.
- Mailed entries must be postmarked by April 25, 2008, all FTP entries must be uploaded in its entirety, error free by Midnight, Sunday May 4th. Mail entries should be sent to:

- Entries do NOT have to be original creations. However, they must not have won an award at another contest. This means you may submit previously created and debuted videos as long as they have NOT received awards at another event.
- To compete in the JACON AMV contest, all entrants must have pre-purchased a May 17, 2008, membership to JACON 2008.
- Videos cannot have a running length in excess of 6 minutes. This is including any studio bumpers used in the video.
- Studio bumpers are discouraged, but not banned. No bumper can be in excess of 15 seconds before or after the video...or a combination of either.
- The AMV Coordinator and/or the Chairperson of JACON reserve the right to reject any video for any reason, including, but not limited to: content, video quality, video content, sound quality and time constraints. The decisions of the Coordinator and/or Chairperson are final.
- Video awards will be in the following categories: Best LoL (Comedy), Best Emo (Drama), Best Pwn (Action), and Best OMGBBQWTF! (Overall). The awards are not limited to these categories, as the judges and/or coordinator may add awards as needed to recognize superior work within the contest entrants.
- We are accepting up to Two (2) entries for each individual entrant.
Submitting Your Entry Via FTP
FTP uploaded filed are due by midnight, Sunday May 4th. All submissions must be submitted by FTP before that time. FTP information can be received from contests@jacon.org.

Other Information
Of course entry in the JACON 2008 AMV Contest, allows JACON LLC, JACO or any group they designate the right to show your work to a public audience and to distribute your work as they see fit.
If you would like to submit a video to our FTP server, please e-mail the music video coordinator, Checkm8 at contests@jacon.org with "AMV Entry" as your subject. All the data needed for an upload will be sent to you. Any other questions regarding the AMV Contest can be sent to this address as well.
